Barbara has served non-profit organizations for over 20 years, primarily in the Healthcare and Senior
Living industries. Her experience includes the acute care sector serving Central Dupage Health Systems
and in Controller/CFO roles with senior living providers in suburban Chicago. Additionally, Barbara
served the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) in Washington, D.C.
as a financial analyst for the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC). Barbara also
was a consultant with AV Powell and Associates, the leading actuarial firm for the Senior Living industry.
During her 22 year professional career, Barbara has developed cost accounting standards; performed
product-line analysis for managed care contract negotiations; developed financial feasibility forecasts;
successfully re-engineered accounting operations of numerous organizations improving internal controls,
financial reporting, staff performance, and transaction processes. She was a key player in workout plans
and reorganization of troubled communities, participant in operations audits, the development and
successful implementation of A/R collections task force action plans.
Additionally, Barbara created and presented budget educational workshops and spoke on various financial
topics at educational symposia throughout the country; written and compiled accounting policies and procedure manuals; led the CCAC finance standards revision process; acted as finance evaluator for CCAC on numerous
accreditation site visits; and served as member of the Finance Committee of Health Resources Alliance and
Alliance Rehab from 2002-2005.
One of Barbara's key accomplishments was the development of RatioPro(TM), a spreadsheet tool that
calculates key financial ratios- this tool is still marketed by AAHSA/CARF-CCAC.
Barbara holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Loyola University of Chicago. She is a CPA
and a member of AICPA.
